Hawaiʻi small-project boundary
Minor repair and handyperson services are limited to projects allowed under Hawaiʻi law: no more than $1,500 in combined labor and materials, no required building, electrical, or plumbing permit, and no electrical or plumbing work. Permit-required and licensed-trade projects must be handled directly by an appropriately licensed professional.
The $1,500 limit applies to the entire project or operation—not per task, visit, invoice, day, or worker. A larger or bundled project cannot be divided into smaller scopes or invoices to fit the exemption.
Pricing method
Light repair work, materials, haul-away, and other property-care services are quoted separately. The applicable limit is evaluated across the entire project or operation, including combined labor and materials.
